manual duplex [solved: https://sourceforge.net/projects/g-manual-duplex/]

Hi,
I had used the HP Laserjet 1018 a long time at a windows computer and i liked the function "manual duplex" printing. Also there is an option for booklet printing (german called "Brosch├╝rendruck").

After I plugged in my hp laserjet to debian etch printing is avaiable but everytime i want to print manual duplex after the frontside the printer stops and i don't see any popup (dialouge) to confirm that the printer could go on (because i turned the paper manually).

To the configuration: It is a normal Debian Etch net install with cups as print server. I also tried Debian Lenny (because of a new version of cups), but then i also had some problems that i couldn't print from any computer in the network (Windows XP, Windows Vista).

Any hints if manual duplex or booklet printing on hp laserjet 1018 is avaiable?

Regards
tobias

From the INSTALL file:
MANUAL DUPLEX
-------------

    See:
        https://sourceforge.net/projects/g-manual-duplex/

        Install:
            $ make
            $ su
            # make install -OR- $ sudo make install

        Then using the GUI:
            1) Add to Panel -> Gnome Manual Duplex applet -> Add
                Print -> GnomeManualDuplex (Virtual Printer) -> Print
                -OR-
            2) System -> Gnome Manual Duplex

        Works with *.ps and *.pdf files.

        - Print odd pages
        - Wait for confimation message
        - Insert in the same orientation into the printer
        - Print reverse even pages

Okay, this will work on Linux but what about windows clients that should use these printer? (The Debian Linux is a so called "home server" which has some samba shares and should also be print server ...)

Does your solution also works in the network?
I have no gnome at this machine - is only based on net install without any window manager.

Those clients should use Windows HP LJ 1018 sotware. This is not my problem.
