filter magic for raw -> postscript

I have cups running on a linux server and printing (mostly) successfully to a Magicolor 2300DL.

I want to get my Mac to print via the linux CUPS server to the printer, but I don't want to compile the foomatic drivers on the Mac as well and would instead like to use the Generic Postscript Driver. The problem is that the Mac then sends the document with type "application/vnd.cups-raw" (in the debug logs from cupsd) which then gets dumped straight to the printer as a bunch of raw text.

I'd like to use some cups-fu to auto-filter that job into type application/postscript so that the normal cups filters can do their thing and translate the job server-side. I tried adding the filter line "application/vnd.cups-raw application/postscript 0 -" but that had no effect; I'm guessing that cups doesn't respect filters on the raw data type? Anyone have any ideas here?
