I have a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2430DL.
I would like to get the printer to run properly on 64 bit Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) and 64bit Crunchbang Linux, Waldorf (#!), both of which are based on Debian Testing.
I think understand - and will follow - the instructions on the front page and in the INSTALL file about downloading and installing foo2zjs from this site rather than using the Debian package.
Reading these announcements:
It seems that if I install any version of gs from 8.63 or earlier or from 8.65 to 8.72 then I should be OK.
However, both LMDE and #! already have gs 9.05 installed.
Therefore, I assume that before I can install - for example - gs 8.72, I have to uninstall gs version 9.05 first.
My questions are:
i) How do I do that without getting into dependency hell?
ii) Is something else likely to be broken by replacing gs 9.05 with an earlier version?
iii) is there a way to have both versions of gs installed without causing untold mayhem?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
