artifacts: diagonal streaks in printed images

When I print images, even at high quality, there are printed regularly spaced diagonal streaks, which spoil them.

These streaks don't occur when printing to a file, only when I print on paper.

Link to a photograph showing the effect. (It's a rather large file - 3MB.)

Imageongoogledocs. Samsung's proprietary linux driver's work is on top, and foo2qpdl's work is on the bottom.

Printer Properties -> Color Mode -> Color
Printer Properties -> Halftone Algorithm -> Well Tempered Screens (best)
Printer Properties -> ICM Color Profile -> CLP-320/325
Works good here.

Those are the default options I have too.

Here is the original png image I used, if anyone else wishes to test.

Image of Cars

I made a bug on ubuntu's launchpad, launchpad bug 817296. (Some of the images I posted there are not identical to the ones I've just linked to here above.)

cars-scan-300DPI.pdf

Works good on Fedora 14 with ghostscript 8.71. Printed to an CLP-315 (CLP-325 is equivalent) and scanned it in. No diagonal lines.

$ eog cars.png
{print to a Postscript file}

$ lpr -P clp315 cars.ps

I got rid of these diagonal lines with choosing No ICM color correction on my magicolor with ubuntu.

Color doesn't work on gs 9.+. Read the INSTALL file and install gs 8.71 as gs.foo.

I installed Ghostscript 8.71 to /usr/local and restarted cups, but this didn't change an image's qualities when printed (with or without ICM). It's still streaked.
Google docs image (large file).

Leaving good enough alone's fine by me, since other people don't have the same issues.

Hi. I realize this is an old topic, but I believe I've experienced this issue, and posted about it an other issues. See http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/forum/read.php?17,3408

The short story is that I can get rid of the lines in images by using "Color - Graphics and Text" color mode. This is with a Magicolor 2200DL. I still have a custom ICM file selected, but I don't know--and haven't tested with a photospectrometer--whether it is ignored entirely when the color mode is not "Color - use ICM profile".
