can't install hp p1606dn under fedora 15 [solved]

Hi everyone!
I'm trying to install my brand new hp p1606dn under fedora 15, but I've no success. I've tryed with the hp device manager, no success, neither by the cups configuration in http://localhost:631. Following the instructions to install it using this version of the foo2zjs (just compiled and installed as explained in http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/), when I start the system-config-printer, it hangs out when searching for drivers. Next, adding it by the cups configuration in the http://localhost:631 web configuration, installation is successfully but each time I send a job (like the test page), it sends me a messege like "unable to locate printer, unconected?" or something like this, and the state message is "stopepd "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed""

The printer wors fine under WinXP, thus, I think is a problem with my configuration... any idea?

Thanks a lot!

Esteban

What does this say:
$ cd foo2zjs
$ foo2zjs-wrapper -P -z2 -L0 testpage.ps > xxx.prn
$ ls -l xxx.prn
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rick rick 93579 Jul 10 13:24 xxx.prn
$ nc 192.168.xxx.yyy 9100 < xxx.prn

???

Then, you should use:

socket://192.168.1.100:9100

for the URI.

Well... tryed to modify my printer as you toud me but no success.....
this might be helpfull... when I select the driver, tells me that "requires proprietary plugin " I guess it reffers to the hplips, which I have already installed... but... maybe no....

any other possible cause/solution?

thanks!

Esteban

What does system-config-printer say??? Please be specific, not "no success".

Works AOK on Fedora 15.
$ cat /etc/issue
Fedora release 15 (Lovelock)
Kernel \r on an \m (\l)

$ sudo system-config-printer
[sudo] password for rick:

Well.. in the system-config-printer, under State messages, it tells me that there is a missing printing filter for the printer HPLaserJetp1606dn ... and... when I putted to print a test page, it printed the following:

%!
  userdict dup(\004)cvn{}put  m(\004\004)cvn{}put
                                                 % You are using the wrong driver

It printed this, when using the "hpijs" driver. Then I tryed to uso the other hpcups, but in the third, dind't even moved. Using upcups, when I send a test page, in the printer state says: "stopped "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed""

I haven't got hplip installed - it is *closed source* software.
You should use MY software only.
