Printer silently ignore jobs very often

Hi everyone,

I am trying to use an HP Pro P1102 printer on an ARM board.

I have disable the CDrom stuff on the printer, installed latest version of foo2zjs (with associated foomatic filters) and cups, hplip is not even installed. The printer is shared on the network but not in raw mode.

Sometimes the printer works as expected, but most of the time, it does not print anything although cups reports that everything went all right.

I have read through the error log of cups (in debug mode) but couldn't find any meaningfull information. The most noticeable difference between a successful and a failed job is:

D [Job 501] renderer exited with status 0
D [Job 501] Read 735 bytes of print data...
D [Job 501] Wrote 735 bytes of print data...
D [Job 501] kid4 exited with status 0
D [Job 501] kid3 finished
D [Job 501] kid3 exited with status 0
D [Job 501] Closing foomatic-rip.
D [Job 501] Sent 735 bytes...
D [Job 501] PID 7723 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) exited with no errors.
D [Job 501] Waiting for read thread to exit...
D [Job 501] Read 56 bytes of back-channel data...
D [Job 501] PID 7724 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/usb) exited with no errors.
D [Job 501] time-at-completed=1473530467

vs

D [Job 500] renderer exited with status 0
D [Job 500] Read 735 bytes of print data...
D [Job 500] Wrote 735 bytes of print data...
D [Job 500] kid4 exited with status 0
D [Job 500] kid3 finished
D [Job 500] kid3 exited with status 0
D [Job 500] Closing foomatic-rip.
D [Job 500] Sent 735 bytes...
D [Job 500] Waiting for read thread to exit...
D [Job 500] PID 7688 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) exited with no errors.
D [Job 500] Read thread still active, aborting the pending read... <---- ??
D [Job 500] PID 7689 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/usb) exited with no errors.
D [Job 500] time-at-completed=1473530241

Any ideas?
