waiting forever for P1102 to become available or ready

hello, I am encountering this problem that if I power down the computer and everything near it including printer by switching off the power strip, when I am back trying to print something the printer is not usable at all.
If I am on windows xp with this printer it makes use of its integrated utility called smartinstall and the printer becomes ready
Is there anything like this also possible on linux or has any of you dealt with this kind of situation, what did you do?
I am using latest linux kernel on an arch linux, the foo2zjs driver and Cups interface where I read about all the jobs pending.

Maybe your P1102 needs a FW download? P1102W do not.
Please print the output of this command:
