HP P1102w not found [solved]

OK, try again. This may not be dbus related.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on an AMD 64bit machine. I've installed foo2zjs as per the web page instructions. But when I enter the Ubuntu system-config-printer program, nothing shows up. There's nothing in the cups web configuration page either. Question is, what should I try next? (It's a dual boot machine with Win7, and the printer works perfectly there.) Any pointers would be highly appreciated!

Wireless OR USB???

For USB:
$ cd foo2zjs

$ foo2zjs-wrapper  -P -z2 -L0 testpage.ps > xxx

$ ls -l xxx
-rw-r--r-- 1 rick rick 93579 2010-09-22 18:58 xxx

$ ls -l /dev/usb/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 2010-09-22 18:53 /dev/usb/lp0

$ sudo usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0
GET_DEVICE_ID string:
MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet Professional P1102w;CMD:ZJS,PJL,ACL,HTTP;CLS:PRINTER;DES:HP LaserJet Professional P1102w;FWVER:20091029;

$ sudo cp xxx /dev/usb/lp0
{printed fine}

$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS \n \l

For wireless:

$ foo2zjs-wrapper  -P -z2 -L0 testpage.ps > xxx

$ nc 192.168.xxx.yyy 9100 < xxx
{printed fine}

Looks like the USB system sees it, but not system-config-printer or cups.

Well, kinda solved. I originally set the printer up in USB mode (only). Today I went ahead and configured the printer (via Windows) to also be a wireless printer. And that instantly brought up the P1102w *in USB mode* in the system-config-printer program in Ubuntu!

No idea why, but it works, I'm happy. Thanks to everyone!
