looking for tips on how to get my new 1600W to work with my network print server from my linux box.

running ubuntu 10.04 and my netgear print server is already setup to work with a USB HP PSC950 inkjet.

the existing printer's USB cable is plugged into LPT1 on the print-server and configured as an LPR/LPD device with this URI: lpd://192.168.1.100/l1 - it works fine.

now i'm trying to setup the 1600W with the USB plugged into LPT2 in the same manner, and i use this URI: lpd://192.168.1.100/l2 - but i get nada. the printer WORKS FINE when connected directly via USB to this linux machine.

i'd appreciate any tips/tricks to get the 1600W working via a network print server!

thx,
walter

From netgear site:
NETGEAR Print Server Compatibility List

This lists the printers compatible with NETGEAR print servers.

    ...snip...

    * A few printers are incompatible with most print servers,
including NETGEARā€™s. Generally this is due to non-standard software
    such as CAPT and GDI.
