hp lj1022 firmware

I understand lj1022 doesn't need the firmware to be loaded. But in windows driver directory, I see the firmware image of a version that is later than what's in the printer. I think windows driver loads this "updated" firmware on top of the old one. I tried cat'ing the image to the dev file, but it did not work. I think lj1022 needs to receive a special command to change its state before loading a new firmware. Any idea?

Use windows to load it. Its a one time thing. It gets flashed into EPROM. But probably your printer already has it. Its really for printers with the first couple of versions.
