I'm a C++ kinda guy who's relatively new to programming, but I'd like to offer my assistance to this project if it can be used in any way.
I have successfully installed my CP1215 under Ubuntu Linux using the provided instructions - however, I do have a color problem (shadowing) mentioned several times related to the PC version. The only way to perform calibration appears to be using a PC, however.
Are calibration settings stored on the printer itself, or on the PC as settings?
Is there a way to initiate calibration under linux with foo2hp?
What can I do to help correct the alignment? Right now my best bet seems to be a virtual windows install in virtualbox and installing the windows USB printer drivers. I'm sure you feel the same way I do about this.
I'm unfamiliar with the protocols - am I correct in assuming that each color component is sent as a separate postscript (or other format) feed to the printer, which then compiles them on one page?
Rick, I've read the section twice now - it only mentions ICC/ICM profiles. You have told me in this thread that an ICC/ICM profile will NOT correct the positioning problem.
Just to be clear, the CYAN and MAGENTA levels are not only perfect - they line up in the physical (x,y) domain. Yellow's level appears to be on, however it is shifted in the -y direction by about 1/4 inch. In addition, the printer is printing beyond the margins of the page (ink 100% to edge)
Printing from a windows device does not yield this problem.
I am not perfect, if I have missed the correct portion of the INSTALL file where instructions on correcting this are listed I apologize - Can you please COPY/PASTE the section I am missing which details how to correct color positioning?
Rick,
I have the same problem with yellow color alignment. I see you can change total page alignment (instructions on align.ps), but can I change just the alignment of the yellow?
