Quite fine (thanks!), but... (duplexer)
Hi All... and thanks first to Rick Richardson!
I have a new Samsung CLP-610ND and I use OpenSuSE 11.0 x86-64 (updated daily with many yum repositories) on a Acer Aspire 8920G.
In OpenPrinting.org site I see your open driver as the suggested one for use with my printer instead of Splix (that doesn't work with it, however). So that, I decided to try/use your one.
On September, the 10th I compile and install your driver following your simple istructions.
But when printing from any software applications (except test page from cups or similar printer setup application), I get out this message on the only printed sheet:
"
SPL-C ERROR - Including Corrupted Header Data
POSITION : 0x0
SYSTEM : src/xl_image
LINE : 811
VERSION : SPL-C 5.35 11-20-2007
"
I think the printer is a... woman!!! ;-)
I got a correct printing also following your istruction in the forum (with nc6):
http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/forum/read.php?58,1355,1355
That's better than what I got with the latest Splix driver, that's for people knowledge:
"
SPL-C ERROR - Please use the proper driver
POSITION : 0x0
SYSTEM : src/xl_image
LINE : 585
VERSION : SPL-C 5.35 11-20-2007
"
Spes ultima dea! (latin for: never lose hope).
Yesterday (September, the 20th), I visit again your site and I note the changelog date, I read the changelog itself and the comment
"foo2qpdl: Change unknown value (margin?) based on page size."
gave me some new hope.
I updated the driver and so I'm able to print! The problem is solved. Thanks! :-)
It still remain an unsolved problem: the duplexer!
When I print with a duplexer capability (i.e. long side...) I obtain the follow message from the printer LCD (display), in english for you:
"MP Paper Tray Empty"
after the first side has been correctly printed and the sheet put away from printer and never kept or retained in the printer after a brief outside view (that is the normal behaviour of Windows XP duplexed printing). Changing and testing various paper source doesn't take me far away... In some cases I get the previous message without any printed sheet...
Any ideas to solve duplexer behaviour? Is that a bug?
Some uncorrectly predefined "qpdl" fields (tray? ...) when using (hardware - automatic) duplexed modes and relative to sheet second side? ...
I make my tests printing pdf files with Gnome 2.22 and Evince 2.22.1.1.
If you need more information, write to forum that I'll certainly give you.
Thanks very much. Have a nice Sunday,
Carlo
p.s. A little suggestion: why not to mark the tarball in some way like these:
foo2zjs.2008.09.05.tar.gz
foo2zjs.2008.09.18.tar.gz
and so on? ;-)
