Bad halftone screen, aliasing etc.

There is something very hairy going on with my setup. Please see the sample images here: http://ta.iki.fi/gs/

I've tried several different (Debian) gs versions and even compiled my own, no difference. Currently running gs-gpl 8.54.

Monochrome rasterization is ok, color brings the problem as can be seen in the images.

This may very well be the same "alligator skin" effect many people have been complaining about.

I think something funny happens with the foo2hp provided custom halftone screens.
Should it even be ordered halftone and not stochastic? Rick's demo image (from forum) is clearly stochastic.

foo2hp version is latest from project page, not debian packaged version. The images have been generated by running foo2hp2600-wrapper(+zjsdecode+pnmcut) on commandline.

Any ideas?

Update: It seems that mozilla firefox 2.0 generated postscript files are prone to this behaviour.

xv generated ps output is just fine; no aliasing, stochastic halftoning.

Weird stuff.
