foo2hp and bpp2 support

I've been playing with foo2hp today and also looked at the source code in order to make Bpp=2 look better.

Where can I find info of the Bpp=2 mode and does anyone know why it is using too much toner and how to prevent it?

The instructions in the INSTALL file do not work (Ubuntu 7.10):

> gs -q -dBATCH -dSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -r600x600 -sDEVICE=bitcmyk -sOutputFile=- - < /usr/share/system-config-printer/testpage-a4.ps | foo2hp2600-wrapper -r600x600 -p9 >testpage.prn
Not a pbm file!

The file itself causes a segfault (if using color):

> foo2hp2600-wrapper -c /usr/share/system-config-printer/testpage-a4.ps >testpage.prn
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I haven't yet looked why..

Ghostscript has a bug. bpp=1 is the default.
