Hi all,

I can't download firmware to P1505 on debian 5.0(Linux 2.6.27)

$ cat '/usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihpP1505.dl' > /dev/usb/lp0
$ usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0
GET_DEVICE_ID string:
MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet P1505;CMD:ACL;CLS:PRINTER;DES:HP LaserJet P1505;

I tried on another machine (ARCHLinux, Linux 2.6.32), still failed.

$ cat '/usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihpP1505.dl' > /dev/usb/lp0

Is wrong!!!

USE: /usr/share/foo2xqx/firmware/sihpP1505.dl

$ md5sum /usr/share/foo2xqx/firmware/sihpP1505.dl
24d3352982690acd603628f501aecbf9 /usr/share/foo2xqx/firmware/sihpP1505.dl

Should have done this with
make
./getweb P1505             # IMPORTANT
sudo make install
sudo make install-hotplug  # IMPORTANT

Yeah, it works.

I wonder why "cat sihpP1505.dl > /dev/usb/lp0" doesn't work?

"make install-hotplug" will set udev rules -- when the printer is plugged in, /etc/hotplug/usb/hpljP1505 will be called, which essentially do "cat sihpP1505.dl > /dev/usb/lp0"
So "cat sihpP1505.dl > /dev/usb/lp0" should take effect. Am I right?

BTW, what is the /etc/hotplug/usb/foo2zjs.usermap doing?

Thanks.
