Install P1005 on Ubuntu 9.04 - Not working
Posted by: tristan2037 ()

Hi guys,

I have followed the install details listed on the website.

Last action i performed was: $ sudo make cups
the previous step of: $ sudo gnome-cups-manager didn't work.
sudo: gnome-cups-manager: command not found

When I send a print job, it is placed in the queue but never actions.

Can anyone guide me down the right path?

Thanks in advance

Did you do:
$ ./getweb p1005
$ sudo make install install-hotplug cups

???

What does this say:

Power down then up the printer.

$ usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0

???

I have the same problem in kubuntu 9.10:

xaman@x0:~/foo2zjs$ sudo make install-hotplug

fi
[ -d /etc/hotplug/usb ] || install -d -m 755 /etc/hotplug/usb/
install -c -m 755 hplj1000 /etc/hotplug/usb/

GET_DEVICE_ID string:

What can I do??

EDIT: I found a solution at ubuntu forums. I had add a new command after install and restart the printer and it works for me:

cat /usr/share/foo2xqx/firmware/sihpP1005.dl > /dev/usb/lp0

You should do:
$ make
$ ./getweb P1005                    # Important, note the P!!!
$ sudo make install install-hotplug # Important!!!

Works fine on Ubuntu 9.10 for me.

Remove hplip. Reboot.

From the INSTALL file:
CUPS USB NOTES
--------------
    If you are using the USB port, then the URI should be:
        usb:/dev/usb/lp0
        usb:/dev/usb/lp1
    OR
        usb://Samsung/CLP-310%20Series
        usb://Samsung/CLP-310%20Series
        usb://HP/Color%20LaserJet%20CP1215
        usb://HP/Color%20LaserJet%202600n
        usb://HP/LaserJet%201000
        usb://HP/LaserJet%201005
        usb://HP/LaserJet%201018
        usb://HP/LaserJet%201020
        usb://HP/LaserJet%20P1005
        usb://HP/LaserJet%20P1006
        usb://HP/LaserJet%20P1505

    Don't use hp://<whatever> because that is for hplip (a closed source,
    proprietary driver).
