Follow ALL instructions on my site.
NO third party support.

"If you installed a THIRD PARTY (e.g. Ubuntu, Gentoo, etc.) foo2zjs package, then read the INSTALL file and follow the directions. No third party support is given. You MUST install using the above procedure."

Dear Redmatrix,

I confirm your observations.

The 8.04 installed driver in Ubuntu print dark images.
The last version from this site print less dark images but there are still differences with the Samsung's driver :
- Images are a little darker;
- Images are a little more brown (especially when you print light green that appear khaki darker).
- Printing black text in color mode, the black texts appears much better using foo2qpdl.
- However the opposite is observed for colored texts. The characters appears not perfectly defined and slightly darker (but better than the default Ubuntu version)

A German site has done a review comparing samsung, foo2qpdl and splix and provide scans of printed text.
http://www.pro-linux.de/berichte/samsung-druckertreiber.html
"foo2qpdl-Treiber" (foo2qpdl driver) far superior to "Unified-Treiber" (CLP-300, color mode) printing black text.
"foo2qpdl-Treiber" (foo2qpdl driver) inferior to "Unified-Treiber" (CLP-300, color mode) printing colored text.

Thus Ubuntu's users have reported to use foo2qpdl when they printed text and samsung's driver when they printed photo. I agree. When you print mixed color and black texts, I strongly suggest to use foo2qpdl because black text are far better and color text are just slightly worse. Anyway, don't use the default installed driver in Ubuntu.

I do not know is there a possible simple way to improve color matching.
I will be please to know the advice or opinion from Rickrich

Regards.

1. Please follow my instructions - make, ./getweb 300, make install, etc.
2. No support is given for THIRD PARTY drivers (e.g. Ubuntu). NO SUPPORT! PERIOD!
3. ICM file is samclp300-0.icm
4. Works fine on Fedora 8 in mono AND color. Beautiful colors.
5. Please read "CUSTOM ICC/ICM COLOR PRINTER PROFILE" in the INSTALL file.
