PPD for HP M1132 MFP ? [solved]

Hi,

Please clear my confusion.

I can find no PPD file for the HP M1132 MFP.

I have had this printer installed under Mint Linux and Manjaro Linux, both involving hplip _and_ a seperate hp plugin. For various reasons I have no success with this path when trying to get it installed to openbsd

LinuxPrinting says: "PPD files (and the Foomatic XML files to generate them) come with the driver, therefore we do not supply PPDs here on the OpenPrinting site" It lists both hplip and foo2xqx as suitable drivers.

But having progressed so far to use the foo2zjs driver, and then issuing a command to print direct, it outputs the need for a PPD file.

I presume with the foo2zjs (why the change from foo2xqx?) driver I do not need the hp plugin.

But I presume I must still find a PPD file. Is there one for another printer that I should use instead? I find no suitable ppd files either in the download of foo2xjs as per foomatic documentation, or in openbsd's own package.

$ locate .ppd | grep HP

outputs only a small set of unlikely looking candidates

Whereto from here?

thanks in advance
Inksi

Try installing it as "HP LaserJet M1120 MFP".

Rickrich,

Thanks, I have it more or less going now, I can print test pages ok but man pages and text files need some work.

Thanks a million

Hi,

With another (old Mint 13) machine reluctant to print to my wifi printer when using the cups or hpijs(?) drivers, and by now aware of foomatic, I spotted a foomatic zjs driver for another hp machine as I scrolled through the list. Bingo! it was printing immediately.

NOTE: hplip is a *closed source*, proprietary driver.

I get that.

Last thing, confirm my understanding that with the foomatic driver multiple copies are sent to the printer one by one. 'wait, print, wait, print ...' (with a numbered pop-up confirmation of successful printing after each page).

With 'normal' printing, like with hplip, would the print job go to the printer with a 'copy number' command?

Not really an issue, but very noticeable when printing multiple copies now.

Download, make, make install.
$ cd foo2zjs
$ foo2xqx-wrapper -n3 -pa4 testpage.ps | xqxdecode

and

$ foo2xqx-wrapper -n3 -pa4 testpage.ps | lp -oraw
Copies=3, uncollated.
