Installing hp LaserJet 1000 on my MSS

I am a pretty quick learner, but still not very fluent in Linux.

I purchased a Maxtor Shared Storage Plus (MSS), and have installed the OpenMSS firmware, which basically gives me Telnet/SSH access to the Linux machine inside (http://www.openmss.org)

The box itself doesn't compile anything, but a friendly guy on the OpenMSS forum has compiled the driver for me (our conversation is at http://www.openmss.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2514#2514). I've also read the posts in as much depth as I can at another forum (http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1000), which went into pretty good depth but unfortunately wasn't too useful for my MSS.

So I've extracted the tarball to my /opt/etc directory, and can plug the printer into one of the USB ports at the back of the MSS. But from there I don't know what to do.

I can't run a make command (but I'm assuming the guy at the forum did all that, so I shouldn't need to). He has also downloaded the firmware for my LaserJet 1000 (he called it sihp1000.img and put it in the foo2zjs directory for me)

Do you have any suggestions for how I would install the printer and the firmware hotplug from here? I hope I'm not asking for too much, but actual verbatim commands that I can use in SSH would be the most helpful.

Thanks very much

Based on an emailed suggestion from Rick, I now have Ghostscript (8.50-2) installed.

So I have both foo2zjs and ghostscript installed on my box, yet neither is running. Do I need any other packages? Any suggestions on how to run/configure either and/or install the hotplug would be appreciated.

This is what I've got in my foo2zjs directory:
# cd foo2zjs
# pwd
/shares/mss-hdd/__opt/etc/foo2zjs
# ls

By the way, although this means very little to me, the MSS is running on the mipsel architecture.

Thanks very much

Do this for a test:

 # foo2zjs-wrapper -P testpage.ps > xxx
# ls -l xxx
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rick rick 93324 Dec 20 05:39 xxx

Here's what I get...
# cd /opt/etc/foo2zjs
# foo2zjs-wrapper -P testpage.ps > xxx
foo2zjs-wrapper: not found
#
From my last post, foo2zjs-wrapper IS in that directory. What did I do wrong?

FYI...

I looked in /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf - under [printers] this is what I get:
[printers]
       comment = All Printers
       path=/shares/mss-hdd/__var/spool/samba
       printing = brcm
       guest ok = yes
       printable = yes
       browseable = no
       print command = chmod 666 %s; printcmd jobsubmit %p '%J' %x '%u'
       lpq command = printcmd queuestat %p
       lprm command = printcmd jobcancel %p %j
       lppause command = printcmd jobpause %p %j
       lpresume command = printcmd jobresume %p %j
       queuepause command = printcmd queuepause %p
       queueresume command = printcmd queueresume %p
This might help, if anyone is reading and can give me a hand.
Thanks
