hi,

i also try to setup my 2490 mf in Leopard.The printer ist connected via lan, so i chose the HP Jetdirect Socket in Printer setup. I followed all the steps in the Install.osx file. Black/white printing works fine, but color doesn't, when i print a color jpg image.
When i print this file, mentioned above, its colored -> perfect:
nc 192.168.1.13 9100 < testpage-cups-a4-2490-win.prn

but it doesnt work out of Leopard with the normal "Print" button.
its the last thing i need to ban xp (vmware).

any ideas ?

I'm trying to setup our 2490MF, and while black/white printing worked instantly out of the box with foo2lava, I have after several days of desperate tries still not managed to get colour to work properly.

I get the same problem that I think is described in some other posts, specifically the 2490 on MacOSX. I have downloaded a new tarball as recently as today, and believe I am following the instructions to the letter, and still it doesn't work.

What happens is I get one page with the blacks printed twice, once in the correct place and once more half a page higher up on the paper. I also get the yellow part of the page in the correct area, but no cyan or magenta. After this page is printed, the printer hangs until I restart it.

My BW-print from CUPS logs the command; "foo2lava-wrapper -z0 -r600x600 -p26 -s255 -m0 -d1 -n1 -Gkm2530_1.icm" which is then translated into "gs -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -g4960x7016 -r600x600 -sDEVICE=pbmraw -dCOLORSCREEN" and "foo2lava -r600x600 -g4960x7016 -p26 -m0 -n1 -d1 -s255 -z0 -u 104x100 -l 104x100". If I run that and decode the resulting file, the output is;

The test content is CUPS testpage. I can provide both GS-generated files and the LAVA-file if necessary.

Also, I've tried printing colour at 600x600, but that seems to mess up the Ghostscript settings so much that it can't event execute. I've seen traces of colour-settings being modified when at 600x600, so I'm thinking either it shouldn't even work, or that the wrapper does something wrong. The result is that GS gets fed an ICM-file directly on the commandline, and can't find it, instead of it being converted to a PS-file earlier in the wrapper.

Anyway, two separate problems, and I'm much more interested in solving the first one. Even if it would be nice to be able to print colour at 600x600, printing colour at all is my first priority.

Hello, I use foo2zjs for Mac OS X with a Magicolor 2490MF on Mac OS X.4.10 : http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foo2zjs#Printers

The driver works in greyscale mode but in color mode the printed page is black (not scaled correctly) with strong shifted yellow part (like Xerox Phaser 6155MFP, see http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/forum/rss.php?31 and Xerox 6115MFP, see http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/forum/read.php?31,301,313#msg-313).

Any possibility to obtain best results ?
