Hello!
Just days before someone noticed, that the LJ M1120 is supported by foo2xqx, I tried out foo2zjs and got my M1120 to print with the LJ 1020 foo2zjs-Driver.
The only thing I had to do was to set down the resolution to 600x600 DPI to get better printing-results.

Should I change to foo2xqx now or should I stay with foo2zjs? Any other "features"? Better support?

I installed de foo2xqx driver following the install procedure in Debian Etch. The printer works great, but the printed area is slightly bigger than page (I selected A4 for the page size in the CUPS web interface, that is, of course, the size of my paper). How can i fix it?

Another thing is that the "print test page" option in the gnome-cups-manager doesn't work. I have to do that from the cups web interface.

Thanks and sorry about my english.

Hello,
HP LaserJet M1005 MFP printer is connected over USB to Windows XP computer. In windows XP is installed Print server for Unix, but I can not print to this printer. I use remote printer SMB or LPD defined in Linux Suse 10. Printer job comes in print queue, but nothing is printed.
How print from Linux to M1005 MFP, that is shared on Windows XP?
Is possible use foo2xqx linux printer driver and print on remote printer shared on windows XP?
Thank You

I have bought a M1005 printer, which does work correctly under windows.

I have a debian unstable i386 machine with cupsys, foomatic and friends installed.

Then I installed foo2xqx according to the instructions on http://foo2xqx.rkkda.com/.

Now printconf and gnome-cups-manager detects the printer ok. But it does not work at all to print anything. The print jobs just gets added to the queue and nothing more happens. It seems like the printer never receives any jobs at all. What cause can this have?

After a job has been added I get lines in /var/log/cups/error_log like this:

I [24/Jul/2007:14:48:48 +0200] Adding start banner page "none" to job 36.
I [24/Jul/2007:14:48:48 +0200] Adding end banner page "none" to job 36.
I [24/Jul/2007:14:48:48 +0200] Job 36 queued on "LaserJet-M1005-MFP" by "root".

I [24/Jul/2007:14:48:48 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 14691) for job 36.
I [24/Jul/2007:14:48:48 +0200] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb (PID 14692) for job 36.

Now I also get lots of lines like this (which I didn't get a little while ago, I don't know what I changed):

E [24/Jul/2007:14:48:51 +0200] cupsdAuthorize: Local authentication certificate not found!
E [24/Jul/2007:14:48:51 +0200] cupsdAuthorize: Local authentication certificate not found!

E [24/Jul/2007:14:48:52 +0200] cupsdAuthorize: Local authentication certificate not found!

Before (when I didn't get the authentication problem lines) I occasionally got lines like this:

E [24/Jul/2007:12:58:39 +0200] [cups-driverd] Unable to read "/var/cache/cups/ppds.dat" - Permission denie

E [24/Jul/2007:12:58:39 +0200] [cups-driverd] Unable to write "/var/cache/cups/ppds.dat" - Permission deni
ed

I don't know what else I can supply to make it easier to help me. I have been trying to get this for work for half this day now and I'm getting a little frustrated.
